Sir:-
I am directed by the Marquess
of Salisbury to transmit to you
the accompanying copy of a des-
patch which the Secretary of
State for the Colonies has receiv-
ed from the Governor of Hongkong
on the subject of expenses incur-
red on behalf of Edward Wallace a
lunatic, sent to the colony from
Shanghae under an order made by
the Chief Justice of Her Majesty's
Supreme Court for China and Corea.
The Hongkong Government requests
that all such expenses should be
de frayed
